Elections in Oregon, measures 66 and 67 | The future of Haiti.

On January 26 the voters of Oregon have to be expressed on two tax measures, the 66 and 67. In the USA the citizens of the states vote their own laws and campaign for them in a way similar to the elections office.

Eduardo González Viaña, Luis Alva Castro y María del Pilar Tello

Eduardo Gonzalez Viana received the Medal of Honor from the Republic of Peru

The 66th and the 67th would increase corporate taxes and household incomes in excess of $ 250,000 dollars annually. 90% of money raised would go for the financing of public education, health and law enforcement Oregon. As everyone can guess, only a small minority would be affected by these measures. For decades, corporations in Oregon pay only ten dollars in symbolic profits. The economic crisis has made the coffers are emptied to endanger the most basic public services in the state.

The 66th and the 67th are as enemies to several sectors that have opted to spend in the campaign for the NO almost more than they would pay with the new measures. Have the support of the Republican Party and the FOX News Corporation and its affiliates. They are the organizers of tea parties. Convinced thousands of patriots who believe that the best they can do for your country is to oppose anything that might benefit the current government. And of course, are the same who oppose universal health plan, measures to curb climate change, to close Guantanamo, the International Criminal Court. The usual, those who call themselves Christians but do not believe in the distribution of wealth, those who defend the right to life but support preventive wars and the death penalty. They are those who look askance at immigrants, environmentalists, homosexuals, those who speak Spanish in public, the rest of the world and especially a president called Barack Hussein Obama.

Yes on 66 and 67! (488 Kb PDF)

If it were not so sad the situation, even fascinating to observe the political dynamics that make individuals may come to defend to the death positions that are clearly contrary to their interests and values they claim to defend.

To discuss this topic we are now participating in our program of journalist and photographer Paulina Hermosillo and the celebrated Peruvian writer and professor at Western Oregon University Eduardo Gonzalez Viana. With these measures and analyze their arguments.

In the second part of the program dealt with the situation in Haiti following recent earthquakes. Lectured on possible future scenarios for the devastated country. Impact on the Dominican Republic and the politicization of the tragedy in the U.S..

Our dear collaborator Eduardo Gonzalez Viana tells us about his trip to Peru where he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor of the Republic.

Special Program: Cara y Cruz of the Dominican Republic

More than 3 million tourists annually visit the Dominican Republic. Tourism is one of the most active and major sources of wealth of the country. Beaches like Punta Cana and Puerto Plata Bavaro attract a customer type of medium to high purchasing power who want to enjoy the tropical climate and a few hotels that offer a superb level of facilities, food and entertainment. The güira, bachata and merengue, mamajuana, lobster, good coffee ... This is real happy face and international projects of this land.

And if tourism is the face, the needs of a large proportion of the population is the cross. The widespread corruption of state, the problem of Haiti, the drug mafia, dengue, malaria, lack of work, human exploitation and child. These are some of the terrible problems confronting the Dominican Republic and do not reflect the majority of the international media.

Weekly Online tackle these issues today with three interviews conducted during a trip between 10 and 19 December 2009 and that took me from the beaches of Punta Cana to the province of La Vega in the Cibao area. A revealing trip where I had the opportunity to experience the reality of a sister country, which I fell in love, and whom I wish very soon reach its tremendous potential.

As I write this line I hear of the earthquake that devastated wing has finished already ravaged Haiti. The consequences of this disaster will be felt throughout the island of Spanish and will emphasize the degree of deterioration of the Dominican Republic. The intervention of the international community, particularly countries that have historically taken advantage of the resources of the island is now a vital necessity for its inhabitants.

I take these lines to thank the friendly treatment I dispensed the CONFENACA, the Catholic Church and the hotel management and staff Excellence Punta Cana to Mrs Francisca "Franca" and his family for their love and hospitality. To Ramon Ramirez in Oregon, for who encouraged and facilitated my visit to the area of the Cibao.

Gibraltar: Disputes between Spain and the United Kingdom - History and analysis

Gibraltar - Vista Sur - Foto Joe Vinent

Gibraltar - South View - Photo Joe Vinent

The government of Iran is determined to keep betting on a nuclear future. "With energy or military purposes?. Time will tell.

The international pressure is serving little or nothing to dissuade or persuade the Persian government in this regard. Guardians of the Revolution need to have their citizens distracted with this and other similar cases to protect the country's regime.

The discontent within the population is increasing. Doubts about the last elections and repression against the demonstrators opposition has weakened the system and demonstrated the absence of a democracy that never was.

The desire for freedom from a young population that looks like their dreams of progress and integration into the community of nations vanish, make use of fear for political purposes is almost the only thing holding up the regime of the ayatollahs.

We speak today of Gibraltar, a British colony at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula which again is disputed between Spain and the UK. We talked about The Rock, its history and possible scenarios to resolve the conflict.

In Peru, dismantled a gang of criminals gruesome killing their victims in order to extract the fat and sell it for 15,000 dollars per liter to cosmetics laboratories. So far as human baseness and how little is life in some places. Spoke about the responsibility of such acts.

We ended up talking and new H1N1 virus mutations discovered in Europe and remain on alert to the international health community.

In this interview deeply into his side and tried inventor of an innovation that could benefit hundreds of millions of people across the globe.

The Integrated Energy Vázquez-Figueroa produces electricity and water, two of the primary needs of mankind.

Sistema Integral VF

VF Integrated System

A mountain of more than 600 feet high next to a water body are the requirements to run the system. It consists (see figure) to raise water to the top of the mountain where it is stored in tanks. The water drops through wells and activates turbines which produce energy. If the water is salty, a part of this was desalted by a filtering process based on reverse osmosis to make it potable, irrigation or industrial purposes.

A genius of the system is that it takes to operate energy sources that are often missed:

  • Renewables that we know as wind or solar.
  • The energy of convection of heated air that rises through a chimney through the natural warming of the engine and move another turbine system.
  • The wasted on the Power Grid at night, which is used to raise the water at these times (night demand is less than the daytime. Stations including nuclear energy produced continuously).

Alberto Vázquez-Figueroa explains the features of the project and start us on the issue of energy transformation and optimization. We discussed with him some of the challenges and problems of modern society. Revealing in this program to one of those extraordinary people who make a positive contribution to the history and progress of mankind.

Barack Obama: Nobel Peace Prize to the "cool"

Medalla Nobel

Nobel Medal

The Norwegian Parliament's Committee for the Nobel Peace Prize has rewarded positive of Obama's speech:

Award relax the tension in the world and homage to facilitate a new diplomatic era. Decoration of environmental dialogue and reduce the nuclear arsenal. Award to the overall project of social development. Reward to dialogue between religions and races. Gold Medal for being cool, or as they say in my country, the good vibes.

Here in the U.S. has granted them the fatal news to the usual: the hardline wing of the Republican Party, its hawkers, led by FOX Radio and TV, and their brains as the Heritage Foundation. Also a few tens of millions of people who have been convinced by the above mentioned that Barack Obama is an agent of Evil (capitalized).

Are the same as a few weeks ago criticized the president to support Chicago's bid to host the games. Those who oppose universal health plan that would give coverage to 40 million people. Those who say that abortion is a crime but justify the death penalty, torture and any civilian casualties made when necessary to defend the right of arms.

I think the Norwegian committee has made a masterful move by recognizing the new spirit of the American administration and simultaneously affect the future of the same on behalf of the rest of humanity "I give the award for how it started. Influenced him to continue down that road given the weight and responsibility that a Nobel Peace entails. And then we open the door to several global forums for the influence of the same. Great!

To discuss this and other issues dear me today recognized journalist and photographer Paulina Hermosillo.

Commenting on the agreement between Turkey and Armenia have facilitated the U.S., EU and France, and could end up with a historical enmity started from the Armenian Genocide.

Hermosillo reveals his latest projects and ended the program in a humorous speaking of the NASA's LCROSS probe and the source of eternal youth.
